Chiropractor

Elyssa E. Bourke, DC

Elyssa Bourke, DC has been focused on helping others attain wellness her entire professional career. Dr. Bourke's desire to help others achieve physical well-being is the cornerstone of her experience and practice.

As a professional dancer, yoga instructor and personal trainer in New York City, Dr. Bourke saw first hand the crippling effects injuries can have on a persons body. Through her experience and training, Dr. Bourke found herself drawn to creating programs that not only helped clients create physical well-being but created programs to assist in managing chronic pain and injury-related conditions. Spurred by a passion for the practice she was creating with clients, Dr. Bourke looked into various avenues to help further develop her skills and found the study of chiropractic to be the focus that best fit her philosophy.

Looking for a new challenge, Dr. Bourke and her husband decided to relocate to Buffalo from New York City. Dr. Bourke grew up in East Aurora, NY and chose the Greater Buffalo area to be closer to family and to further her education by entering D'Youville College's Doctor of Chiropractic program.

Having received her Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2009, Dr. Bourke created her practice based on integrating clients' functional movements with chiropractic treatment, guiding them to a comfortable and healthy state of being.

Since opening her practice, Dr. Bourke has continued developing her education and skills by completing certification courses for the Graston Technique, a tool assisted manual therapy technique that targets conditions involving fascia, muscle and scar tissue. She has also furthered her studies in pediatric adjusting through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and the Activator Method which uses an adjusting tool to deliver a gentle and precise adjustment. In addition to her chiropractic studies, Dr. Bourke has completed an adaptive yoga certification for people of all abilities and disabilities, several anatomy workshops and currently teaches the anatomy component of the yoga teacher training program at East Meets West Yoga.

Outside of her Chiropractic practice, Dr. Bourke is a Yoga instructor at Carriage House Collective and an Adjunct Professor in the Chiropractic Dept at University of D'Youville, and in the Department of Theater and Dance at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
